Donor Spotlight: Ana VeigaMilton
Meet Ana VeigaMilton, corporate attorney with a background in engineering, community advocate and president of the renowned José Milton Foundation. A proud Girl Scout Alumna, Ana joined Girl Scouts as a young girl, after immigrating to the United States from Cuba. She believes Girl Scouts helped her assimilate to American culture while making friends throughout her time at Banyan Elementary School in Miami.
As a result of key lessons instilled during her formative years, Ana forged a highly successful career. She is a corporate attorney, presides over the José Milton Foundation, co-founded the Cecil & Ana Milton Family Foundation, and directs Corporate Social Responsibility for United Property Management, the owners/managers of nearly 9,000 residential units and commercial real estate.

Ana has received numerous accolades and recognitions as a result of her community involvement, including the Mayor’s Community Spirit Award, UM Engineering Dean’s Innovation Award, The United Way Dorothy Shula Outstanding and Volunteerism Award. She was also recognized as the Red Cross Miami & Key’s Chapter Philanthropy Volunteer of the Year and inducted into the M-DCPS Alumni Hall of Fame. We recently sat down with Ana to learn more about why she continues to support Girl Scouts as well as why others should get involved.
What was your favorite memory of being a Girl Scout?
Girl Scouting is an American tradition. As a Cuban Immigrant, Girl Scouting introduced me to the culture and a variety of traditions while working on my badges, as a group and independently.
What inspires you about Girl Scouts?
I’m proud to say the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida helped me grow into the woman I am today. With a strong STEM program and strong female role models, GSTF is providing young girls the opportunity to learn about and practice leadership long before graduation.
Why do you support Girl Scouts?
They are dedicated to creating a society where women are equal participants in the rooms where decisions are made. An environment that is much more progressive, empathetic, efficient, collaborative and prosperous in comparison to years past.
What do you want other people to know about Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts isn’t only helping the girls within a Troop. Girls take home what they experience. It’s indirectly helping to empower their moms, sisters, cousins to also stand strong and strive for more! Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida is helping develop the leaders of tomorrow.
