Alum, Christina Cruz, knows first-hand how the power of Girl Scouts and earning the Gold Award puts you on the path to leadership.
Christina graduated from Harvard University on May 28, 2020 Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Neuroscience. In addition, she pursued the Mind, Brain and Behavior Honors track and earned High Honors in the MMB Program for her honors thesis.
Christina will be joining Huron Life Sciences Consulting Group in the Fall, and plans to attend medical school in the fall of 2022.
Christina’s Gold Award project addressed the issue of organ donation and tackled the low rate of organ donor registrations by developing an educational campaign to address the misinformation that often prevents people from registering as organ donors. She started a club at Carrollton called LifeShare to educate and encourage organ donation within the school and in the community. She also put together a panel discussion attended by more than 300 students and faculty where they heard from several guest speakers including a City of Miami Paramedic, the mother of a teenager who was killed in an accident and who donated his organs, an organ recipient, and someone on the organ donation waiting list.
