Congratulations to our Gold Award and Silver Award Girl Scouts! We celebrated Girl Scouts who earned their Gold and Silver Awards on Sunday, June 5, at the FIU Wertheim Performing Arts Center. This year's Gold Award Girl Scouts are 28 teen world-changers in Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys who invested over 3,100 hours creating lasting impact on issues important to them. Six of them were also nominated for the prestigious Silver Knight Award presented by Miami Herald. The Silver Award Girl Scouts are 21 young women who collectively poured 1,050 service hours into bettering their community.
Special guest speaker Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, a Girl Scout alum, addressed the girls during Sunday’s awards ceremony, celebrating the girls for their achievements and urging them to “return to Miami and invest their talents in their community.”
Philanthropist Ana VeigaMilton, a Girl Scout alum, presented scholarships to two Gold Award Girl Scouts on behalf of UHealth Jackson (Sofia T.) and the José Milton Foundation (Alexis B.).
Thank you to sponsors Baptist Health and Spirit, and to scholarship providers José Milton Foundation, UHealth Jackson and Ortega Family Foundation.
