GSTF Media Influencer Alejandra J., a Cadette Girl Scout in Troop 1848, shared about her experience at Cookie U with us. Cookie U is our annual rally to kick-off the Girl Scout Cookie season where girls work on their entrepreneurship badges, practice their cookie pitches, connect with each other, and, after, cheer on the University of Miami Women’s Basketball Team.
Hi, my name is Alejandra J. and I am a Cadette from Troop 1848 in Miami Beach, FL. I am excited to share about a wonderful event by Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida called Cookie U! I always look forward to attending Cookie U and the basketball game with the Lady ‘Canes because it is very exciting and educational. If you have never been or did not get to come this year, let me tell you all about the inspiration, learning, and fun activities.
On Sunday, December 3, 2023, the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida attended Cookie U at the Knight Sports Complex on the campus of the University of Miami. Cookie U is a big celebration to get excited about the start of Girl Scout Cookie season. We enjoyed fun activities like Cookie Jenga and Cookie Twister, heard from inspirational speakers, including Tech Entrepreneur Max Tuchman, and learned about the cookies and tips on selling them from “Cookie Customers.” We can’t forget the face painting, too! The part I enjoy most is when we bond as sisters with our troop members, other troops, and our Tropical Florida leaders. A fun scavenger hunt helped us do this.
After the inspiring activities inside the Knight Sports Complex, everyone walked over to the Watsco Center for the Lady ‘Canes basketball game. It was a hot sunny day and once we entered the building, we received FREE Dippin’ Dots Ice Cream – refreshing! During the basketball game, we filled the place with shouts and some of us held up signs cheering for the Lady ‘Canes, and they WON! Yay!
Cookie U is always a hit. A major Cookie U / Lady Cane highlight is taking a picture with the University of Miami’s mascot, Sebastian. I am so happy to share my experience with you and hope you are as excited for the next Cookie U as I am. I can’t wait to see you at Cookie U next year!
