Join us for Season 4 of our Women in STEM series! This month, our
featured Women in STEM speaker is Dr. Ronda Hamm, an entomologist
whose career in insects has taken her to many unexpected places! In
high school, Ronda landed a paid internship through Future Farmers of
America (FFA) to save for college - only to discover she'd be working
with bugs, something that initially horrified her. She stuck with it
anyway, and her research on Argentine ants became an award winning FFA
project, sparking a curiosity that kept pulling her back for years of
continued research, a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education,
and a Master of Science and PhD in Entomology. Her work has taken her
from investigating pests in crop fields to collecting house flies in
Australia; she even tackled a termite problem at the base of the
Statue of Liberty! Join us to hear about Ronda's path from fear to
fascination, and which bug related patent (she has five!) she's most
proud of!
