Join us for Season 4 of our Women in STEM series! This month, our featured Women in STEM speaker is Dr. Diana Azzam, a cancer treatment researcher who helps patients with difficult to treat cancers find personalized treatment options tailored to their specific disease. As a kid, Dr. Diana knew from the moment she walked into a chemistry lab that she had found her calling. She went on to earn her Bachelors in Chemistry, a Masters in Biochemistry, and a PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. She is now the Scientific Director for the Center for Advancing Personalized Cancer Treatments (CAPCT) at Florida International University. Join us for a fun and inspiring chat to learn about Dr. Diana's path into cancer treatment, how cancer cells work, how she figures out which treatments can help patients the most, and her favorite science "wow" moment in the lab.
Cost: $4 (In council), $6 (Out of Council) includes mailed Fun Patch or Rocker Bar.
Badge/Patch information:
Registered Girl Scouts will receive a central fun patch for their first virtual Women in STEM event, and one rocker bar for every additional night they attend.
All attendees will complete one step of their STEM Career Exploration Badge.
