Have you ever wondered what flamingos are saying to each other?
One Friday each month, GSTF hosts a virtual fireside chat with inspiring women in STEM. This month, meet Allison Rees, a wildlife biologist and animal communication researcher who has studied everything from fruit fly sounds to flamingo calls. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Wildlife Biology, Allison studies how animals use sound to communicate. Her STEM journey has included roles with Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom and the Toledo Zoo! Today, her research explores how animals communicate and what those signals can reveal about behavior, identity, and populations. Join us to discover how scientists "listen in" on wildlife, and learn what flamingo calls can tell us about the birds making them. You might even leave knowing how to say "hello" in Flamingo! 🦩
