Join Miami Waterkeeper for a fun day of beach cleanup, environmental exploration, and hands-on climate science at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. Girl Scouts will investigate marine debris and microplastics, test water quality, and collect environmental data while working toward parts of their Climate Challenge patch and earning community service hours.
Parents, caregivers, troop leaders, and other adult supporters are welcome to participate alongside as they explore, learn, and take action to protect our coastal environment.
Cost: $13/girl, $2/adult
Participants will make progress toward earning the Climate Challenge patch but will not complete all patch requirements during the event. Climate Challenge patches are not included in the workshop cost and may be purchased separately through the Girl Scout Shop.
Bring a packed lunch, shoes that can get wet, sunscreen, hat and a reusable water bottle (please NO SINGLE USE PLASTICS). This event will run in light rain or shine! In the case of thunder and lightning, the event will be rescheduled. Refunds will be offered if participants cannot attend the new rescheduled date.
Waivers from Miami Waterkeeper required. This is not a drop-off event. All participants must be accompanied by a troop leader, parent, caregiver, or other responsible adult.
