Curious about Girl Scouts? Join us at The Kampong for a hands-on garden adventure filled with history, creativity, and discovery!

The Kampong is not an ordinary garden. Once the home of renowned plant explorer Dr. David Fairchild, this hidden Coconut Grove treasure is filled with tropical plants gathered from around the world. Fairchild named The Kampong after the village communities he encountered during his travels in Southeast Asia. Today, the garden continues to inspire visitors to explore, learn about, and appreciate the incredible diversity of the plant world.

Designed especially for new families, this interactive event gives girls an opportunity to experience Girl Scouts while exploring select areas of The Kampong's beautiful garden. Girls will collect flowers for pressing, learn how people have preserved plants throughout history, and assemble their own DIY plant press to take home. Each participant will also decorate a mini nature journal with pressed flowers and receive an additional activity to continue the fun after the event.

Families will have the chance to meet Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida staff, ask questions, and learn how to get involved.

Current Girl Scout members are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend who is not yet a member!

No Girl Scout membership or previous Girl Scout experience is required. New families are welcome. RSVP is required so we know who will be joining us. Parents and caregivers are required to stay for the entirety of the event to supervise their girls.
