Job Title:  Troop Support

This is a brand-new gig at Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, which means you can help influence your role. You’ll be the one to champion the Girl Scout movement across Miami and the Keys, supporting middle to high-school girls and troops.

You’ll be working primarily in our Council Service Center

Position Summary:

  • Communicate with, engage and support volunteers to help them be prepared for their roles.

  • Communicate with, engage and support older girls so that they have a rich and rewarding Girl Scout experience.

  • Coordinate support and resources for existing and new volunteers after the point of placement

  • Monitor troops and participation in order to maintain the Opportunity Catalog

  • Answer volunteer questions by phone, email, in-person, etc. in a professional and timely manner with the goal of providing excellent customer service

  • Monitor requests for volunteer development opportunities, and provide and/or arrange trainings

  • Oversee Bronze, Silver and Gold higher awards by providing girl training, committee support and progress tracking

  • Ensure Individual Girl Members (Juliettes) receive communications and opportunities to participate in Girl Scouts opportunities

  • Identify, cultivate, train or arrange training for Program Aides, Counselors-in-Training and Volunteers-in-Training

  • Maintain certification records for trainings

  • Process volunteer forms according to council procedures

  • Resolve conflicts

  • Send individual and group communications to volunteers

  • Support council, regional and functional efforts

  • Cross train in Recruitment—Inside  and Customer Contentment

Major Accountabilities

  • Update and maintain Opportunity Catalog

  • Meet specific task metrics, such as Troop Finance Summaries received

  • Ensure training needs are met

  • Improve volunteer retention rate

  • Resolve Cases

Hours/Travel

  • Occasional weekends and evenings

  • Up to 25% travel

Skills & Qualifications

  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects

  • Able to encourage, coach and mentor volunteers

  • Able to build teamwork among volunteers

  • Adept at conflict resolution and problem solving

  • Active listening skills

  • Demonstrates initiative in solving problems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—oral and written (bilingual preferred but not required)

  • Girl Scouts (or other non-profit) experience a plus but not required

Compensation
Salary plus incentives, employer subsidized health, life and disability insurance, 25 days paid time off yearly
