Be a Tropical Florida Volunteer!

adults2

The Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida depends on volunteers to provide girls with the best leadership experiences. Our current volunteers come to us with various different skill sets from a wide range of professional backgrounds. Because we want to reach out to every girl with a desire to make a difference in the world, no matter what her interests, we strive to ensure our group of volunteers offer diversity and personify the values written in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Girl Scouts is not just about cookies, camping, and crafts. It's much more. In today's ever-changing society it is important to provide programs comprehensive enough to cater to a medley of girl interests. So we are in search of volunteers who can help us do just that! Whether you are a former Girl Scout, an established professional, a student, male or female--there is a place for you at Girl Scouts to guide girls in discovering their personal best and connecting with others in an increasingly diverse world. Being a volunteer is flexible as the schedule will revolve around your free time. Our council will provide all of the resources and training necessary. Think you might be interested? Get started by filling out our Online Volunteer Interest Form.

Advocate on Behalf of GirlsVolunteers022

Today’s girl is backing down, opting out, and playing small. She lacks role models and mentors, especially in the high-paying science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. She’s confronted by unhealthy images of female beauty. And the mean-girl culture of her peers holds her back. Girls start opting out of leadership around 5th grade. If this goes unchecked, millions of girls will never realize their full potential.

Legislation may be only part of the total picture, but it’s an effective way to encourage change. We’ve set up a simple process for advocating on behalf of girls, in three distinct areas:

Support the Healthy Media for Youth Act and change the way the world views women—and the way girls see themselves through media.

Strengthen STEM education for all students by asking your legislator to support STEM initiatives.

Stand up for girls’ safety by sponsoring legislation that promotes children’s emotional health, social skills, and character development.

Will you advocate on behalf of girls? Make a few clicks.
And help get her there.
