As we kick off 2018 we’d like to look back to some of our awesome experiences from 2017. Meeting with Sylvia Acevedo, CEO of GSUSA is one of those moments we will not forget.
On November 30th, Sylvia joined us for Cafecito and Conversations at the University of Miami’s Casa Bacardi. This G.I.R.L. Agenda-themed event brought Girl Scouts, Volunteers and our board members together to learn from each other and collaborate on ways to create positive impact.
During Cafecito and Conversation, Sylvia spoke to the girls about her Girl Scout journey. She explained how her experiences as a Brownie helped her develop her leadership and sales skills, foster her love for science and math, and build problem-solving skills that have served her throughout her life.
“Our girls and volunteers left the room so inspired,” says Chelsea Wilkerson, CEO of GSTF. “We had people reach out to us days after the event to talk about how excited they were to meet Sylvia and hear her story. And I understand - it’s an exciting time to be a Girl Scout and Sylvia is an amazing example of how Girl Scouts creates these impactful experiences for girls to learn, grow and thrive.”
