Facilities

In an effort to support the membership, a program center and other multi-use facilities are available for troop and leader meetings, training workshops and program activities.

Camp Choee


Camp Choee is a 20 acre site and is owned by the Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida, Inc.

Camp Choee Facilities

Cabins 4 air conditioned cabins (1 shower, 2 sinks, 2 toilets) sleeping 16 each. Bunk- beds and Mattresses provided.
Barbara Moore Program Center (BMPC) Large air-conditioned room with stage and room dividers for meetings, conferences, dancing, theater, chorus, puppets, et. Accommodates 250 persons.
Kitchen - Stove, refrigerator, freezer, 4 sinks, cabinets and counter space, great for group cooking and teaching cooking.
Bathrooms - 2 toilets and 2 lavatories in the building.
Craft House/Lodge Screened lodge with a lunchroom (sandwiches, coffee), shelves, counter space.
Pool 37' X 75' Junior Olympic for aquatics, Swimming lessons, basic water safety, basic rescue, life saving, safety instructions and water ballet. 52 maximum persons in pool - Miami-Dade County ordinance
Bath House To be shared by all areas, 5 toilets, 5 lavatories, and 5 showers in large section of bath house.
1 toilets, 2 lavatories, 1 shower & 1 urinal in small section of bath house.
Other Facilities Fire circles, chickees, picnic tables, bridge, benches, sand volleyball court, tetherball, trails.

Camp Wesumkee

     Camp Wesumkee is an 11 acre oceanfront camp on Girl Scout Council owned property. It is a beautiful camp on the Atlantic Ocean for experienced campers and offers snorkeling, tidal pool observations, swimming (you must provide your own lifeguard), nature and marine study.

There is no sleeping in the Nurse's Quarters

Galley - CLOSED Upstairs dining hall with picnic tables for 76
Adjoining commercial kitchen
Downstairs shelter below dining hall for activities to be shared by all groups in coral cove unit.
Wheelhouse Upstairs activity room accommodating 50 persons during the day.
Small lunchroom (only minor cooking - coffee, soup, sandwiches).
Downstairs sleeping 16 in bunk beds w/mattresses provided.
Bathhouse 1 south by chickees, 1 north by wheel house, totaling 11 toilets, 11 lavatories, and 11 showers.
Tenting Area Large field used for play or tenting overnight. (Tents must be reserved through Camp Registrar - Irene Valines, 305-253-4841, ext. 223)

Camp Mahachee

Camp Mahachee is owned by the Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida, Inc. and is located in a beautiful hammock accessible to Matheson Hammock, Fairchild Garden and cycling paths. Offers facilities for a first or second time camp experience.

Available For troop camping, troop meetings (Wednesday and Thursdays only), day/evening activities, events and trainings
Capacity 118 persons for overnight (80 in cabins, plus 38 in tents)
200 persons for day trips, outing or events with facilities on the site
Area 11.7 acres
Lodge Large air-conditioned room with tables, chairs, and fireplace; small room for crafts
Kitchen Large commercial air-conditioned kitchen equipped with stove, refrigerator, freezer, sink, shelves and counter space.
Bathhouse 12 toilets, 14 lavatories, 8 showers
Cabins 8 cabins, sleeping 10 each. Cots and mattress provided
Pavilion Pavilion is screened, with ceiling fans and benches
Outdoor Facilities Cabin area with barbecue grills, tables, running water, and butterfly garden.
Tenting Area Large field. Rental tents available (first come, first served) and must be reserved 6 weeks in advance of arrival. Troops put them up and take them down. Contact Site Managers to inspect tens before taking them down.

Coral Gables Little House (CGLH)

On April 15, 1993 the Commission of the City of Coral Gables voted to designate the CGLH as a historic landmark. CGLH has a large grassy area and is within walking distance of Venetian (swimming) pool.

General Information

Service Units can reserve 6 months in advance, Troops can reserve 3 months in advance, and Boy Scouts & Non-Profitable Youth Organizations can reserve 30 days in advance.

If you can not make it to the site that you scheduled, please contact the site managers as soon as possible. They schedule their time around you and could be doing other things if you are not going to be there. The site managers will be available to operate the gate for one hour after your arrival. You will be responsible for any campers arriving after the one hour has passed.

The following forms should be completed 6 weeks prior to your scheduled event and return by mail or fax.

Please contact your site manager approximately one week prior to your arrival to give them your arrival time. Unless you make other arrangements with the site managers please do not arrive early or late as this can cause problems with their schedule.

For safety reasons, please drive only on designated roads or driveways. Camp gates are locked at 10 P.M. DO NOT plan on going in or out after this time.
